We are a grateful group and here's what we appreciate this week:
Today we learned that a complete sentence needs a subject and a predicate. Here are some examples of complete sentences:
Now that we know complete sentences need a subject and a predicate, we will begin working on recognizing and correcting sentence fragments and run-on sentences. (CCSS L.4.1.f) Friday Appreciations are a weekly tradition in Room 19. Here are some of the things Room 19 students are grateful for:
Today's blog post was collaboratively written by Room 19's students:
Over the last few days we have read about the Oak Woodland region. We read about the Oak Woodland region because this is the region in which we live. We learned a lot of interesting facts about oak trees. One interesting fact is that oak trees can produce up to 400 pounds of acorns each year. Oak trees can survive in hot, cold, and foggy weather. And, there are 19 different species of oak trees. These are some of the facts we have learned about the Oak Woodland. Thanks for reading! Day 2 found us on Carpy Field during Team Time. (Team Time is our multiage time when students from Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Becker's classes are combined with students from Room 19 to form 3 multiage teams.) Students were tasked with solving several challenges. Please be sure to check in with your student about the challenges he/she tried to solve with his/her team. Fantastic 1st day of school! We had a whole school assembly, completed a "crew puzzle" to discover where we sit, had a few Summer Reading Project presentations, began our new read aloud book, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, and helped to Save Fred. Please be sure to check in with your student each day to hear about the day's happenings. |
