Hi, I'm Owen and my job for September is to write a weekly blog about what happens in our class. This week we got new crews. In case you don't know, crews are four students assigned to one table for the whole month. We have 5 crews in our room. Whenever we get new crews we do a "crew building" activity. This month's activity was playing Uno. By playing Uno we learned how to work together.
This week we learned that the angles in a triangle always total 180 degrees. It doesn't matter if the triangle is an isosceles triangle, a scalene triangle, or an obtuse triangle, the angles will always measure 180 degrees.

Hi Owen! Thanks for sharing your blog. I am very glad you explained what a 'crew' is. In our family we know a 'crew' as a dance group like on So You Think You Can Dance. So if you hadn't explained I would have had this vision of you and your classmates dancing around the room! Whew, glad we got that one cleared up. :-) Can't wait for this Friday's post!

What a clear explanation you gave about crews and triangles. Good job and thanks.. Also, I noticed from the picture that the crews sit around a round table. That helps to get to know each other and work together, don't you think? BTW, how many degrees are in a circle versus a triangle? Good luck with your blog. Love, Papa J.

Hi O! I am excited to not just read your blog, but check out this great website your teacher set up. I enjoyed seeing pictures of your classmates and some of the activities you've done this year. My students also sit at tables, but I call it their 'team' instead of 'crew.' I like that you have a 'crew-building' activity when you meet your new tablemates. I think it makes working together easier if you have a little fun together first. Have a great rest of the week. I wonder what job you'll apply for next?

Hi O and class,
This year I teach 6th grade. In Colorado 6th grade is the first year of middle school. I think we could do pen pals when my students review letter writing. Skype would be fun, too.
Did your class hear about the flooding going on in Boulder? School was cancelled the last two days. The elementary near my house is flooded and damaged. It's very sad.

Wow! Owen, you are quiet the technical writer! The way you describe what a "crew" is was clear and to the point. Well done:) I hope even when September is over you will consider continuing to write...you are VERY GOOD at it:)
